My tablet cord busted at some point a few days ago so now I can't draw (well okay, I can't draw on the PC, I can draw on paper just fine), and I am SUFFERING.

Obviously I just ordered a new one, because it's 2024 now and there's no reason to not take advantage of modern technology but it won't be here until Sunday, so no animation for me TmT

AND I have work tomorrow.

Some of you know and some of you don't, but I started a new club in an effort to build a tiny community. It's not going great but it's also existed for only 2 days so I'm not expecting too much of it yet. What I am expecting is at least one other member, which is why I've spent the day sketching out a small poster for us, that way when people do join I can add them to it.

In other news, I'm working on my own comic as well. Not for the contest that's going on, because deadlines make me nervous, but more as a flexing of my creative muscles. I don't think I've regularly drawn comics since like...2015? So it'll be good to get back into it, especially if I have friends/members to draw :Ｄ

I'm going to get back to doing that now, but I figured I'd drop a lil update since there's at least 2 people that read these.

Okay before you tell me to hang myself, just hear me out. Please? Pretty please? Okay. Cool.

Basically, YouTube recommends me this video, right? Something about a "Gacha Life 2". Why? I have literally no idea. I used Gacha Studio sometimes in middle school* but even back then I avoided the community like the plague. It was one of those annoying ass modern YouTube thumbnails with the red circles and the obnoxious emojis. Looked super fake, but I decided to humor whoever made it just this once purely out of boredom. Nothing better to do on a Saturday night, right?

Long story short it's real. It is a real app that you can really download right now. Crazy times we live in.

I think to myself, "Eh, screw it, why not?" and pop on over to the Bluestacks website to try it out. I would have gotten it on my phone, but that thing struggles to let me text my mom, let alone run a children's dress up app. Loads up, looks exactly like the one I used to play back in the day but with a nicer UI, and after some pop ups, I'm in.

So like....why do people hate these games again?

It was actually kinda cool if I'm honest. Like, sure, it's just another dress up app, they're not reinventing the wheel here, but it was pretty damn fun. You can do a lot more stuff with it than you could however many years ago.

I personally don't think I'm ever gonna use it again any time soon, but if it seems like something you'd enjoy or if you're already into Gacha apps, then go enjoy it! And fuck anyone who calls you cringe for it.

Anyways, for those that care I'm working on real art to post soon. Should be done in a day or two but knowing my luck it's gonna be another month XD.

i just ate like 12 livesavers in a row so my breath is minty fresh and my tastebuds are bleeding. yeehaw.

It's around this time every year that I begin to revisit old hyperfixations of mine in a failed attempt to offset the looming seasonal depression or the debilitating sadness that rears its ugly head every time I remember that I have to be around my parents during the holidays. This past week has been no different, with me rediscovering my love for RPGMaker and of course, Toontown Rewritten.

Now, I'm not going to explain the intricacies of Toontown to you, because that'd take forever and these DO have a character limit, but all you really need to know is it was originally made by Disney, it's a very grindy MMO, and it brings me simple joy so I love it unconditionally.

In this game, you of course make a player character (a "Toon"), and seeing as I'm one of those yucky creative types, I'm unreasonably attached to mine. For a while now, I've only had and played as one character, a cyan dog named "Fancy Biscuit", who looks like this:

(Yeah I know, you can really tell that I'm the one who made this character. )

I've spent about 2 years grinding to level her up in an off-again on-again kind of manner, and it's sort of payed off since I don't get bullied by the snottier players anymore and I can generally hold my own in a fight without losing all my gags (those are the designated attacks/weapons).

Now, I could just keep grinding up Biscuit, after all she's not even close to the level of laff I'd need to even look at a field office, buuuut I decided to start over with a new character, because I came up with a stupid pun name and I had to use it before anyone else did. Someone probably used it anyways, but I don't care.

I present to you, Deerly Departed*!

Deerly here purely came about from me trying to think of dumb pun names for a deer toon, because I like deer toons and I wanted to play as one. I also made up an entire personality and backstory for her despite the fact that she's existed for maybe 2 days tops. Since her name is a play on the phrase "Dearly Departed", she's a funeral director. Not a serious one of course, she's putting squrting flowers on the casket and playing Taps on rubber chickens. Lighthearded but slightly morbid stuff, you get the jist. (Is it gist or jist? I've seen it spelled both ways.)

So while I wait for her name to be accepted (or denied, only time will tell), I'll be grinding her and Biscuit up, plus making various little doodles to pass the time, some of which include these here toons. Here's the only one that's even slightly finished as a treat for all 2 of you that bothered to read this the entire way. You have my upmost thanks:

I recently learned that IbisPaint does in fact have a PC version, which is great news for me since I was using it on a shared iPad prior to yesterday, which was really inconvient for like 4 reasons. It's kind of hard to make art when you have to stop every 20 minutes because your mom needs to check something, your younger sibling needs to text their friends, or your dad needs to look up how to stop sucking on one of the like 40 sports games he owns for some reason.

No longer will I face these injustices, I am finally free to explore my creative endeavors and also maybe learn how the fuck anatomy works. Probably not. At the very least I can draw whatever I want without having to do the blank canvas thing to hide all the blood and guts and such.

But that's enough about me, lets move on to some little doodles I did to test the program out. I only learned I could rotate the screen after I finished the second one, so hopefully it's all uphill from here.

Starting up, we've got Violet. Usually whenever I'm testing a new art program I draw her first. It's almost tradition. Seeing as she's the first character I ever made period (I couldn't even write yet, that's how long ago it was), it's kind of a miracle that I've kept her around for this long.

I keep changing my mind on whether or not her ears should be purple. You'd think after 15 years I'd have figured it out, but alas.

Next up I drew myself, because I'm a narcissist.

Well okay, not really. Quite the opposite. I just wanted to figure out how to draw myself with more exaggerated proportions. I kind of hate how the face looks on this but everything else is pretty solid. My wrist does this stupid thing sometimes where it just goes ballistic with twitches for no reason, and trying to deal with that and drawing at the same time is a nightmare. The stabilizers came in clutch though.

With those little experiments out of the way I can work on some real art now, and it'll probably suck less. No promises. Anyways, thanks for reading all of this. Until next time.

As I finished my latest art piece and took a moment to really look at it, I started to realize why nobody in my immediate personal life can tell that my persona is a dude. I'm well aware that there's really nobody to blame for that but me, but still.
